PSC Broadband Expansion Grant: Call for Community Letters of Support

We need your help! The Town of Gibraltar has an opportunity to partner with Charter Communication to obtain a grant from the state Public Service Commission (PSC) to assist in funding the construction of broadband expansion in the Town.

The state broadband grant program has been in existence since 2014. Since then, the state has awarded $44 million in grants to 210 projects. The PSC is making another investment of $24 million in grant funding to public/private partnerships willing to extend broadband service to unserved and underserved areas of the state. If awarded to Gibraltar, this grant of over $2 million would allow broadband expansion to over 224 homes, businesses and lots within our community (see map below).

In an effort to submit the strongest grant application possible, the Town is reaching out to community members, businesses and organizations for letters of support for this project. That’s where you come in! Please consider writing a letter of support stating how this grant and project would benefit our community. (Samples of community support letters can be found here.)

Letters of support can be addressed to:

Ms. Steffany Powell Coker
Secretary to the Commission
Public Service Commission of Wisconsin
4822 Madison Yards Way
North Tower – 6th Floor
Madison, WI 53705-9100

Please submit all letters no later than noon, Monday, November 30, 2020. Letters can be submitted via email to [email protected]. (Please include “PSC Grant Letter of Support” in the subject line.)

If you have additional questions, please email or call the Town office. Thank you for your help!
